Quilled Heart Card

Here's a sneak peek at one of the projects in my upcoming Quilled Valentines class at Bizzy B's. It's a really simple window card with a quilled heart on the inside (visible through the window). The photo is a little dark (it's actually white!), but you get the idea. Drop into the store to see the real one and other samples as they become available. The class description is below!

Quilled Valentines (February 4, 7:00-9:00 p.m.)
Treat your valentine to a quilled keepsake: a greeting card, a keepsake box, and a simple bouquet! Quilled Wedding Cake

So I tried quilling something new tonight -- a wedding cake! I've been thinking about it for a while and decided it's what I want to teach in my upcoming quilled miniatures class. My close-up photography skills need some improvement, but I'm really happy with the cake. Looks pretty tasty to me!

Good Intentions Lapbook

Quilled Snowflakes

Quilled snowflakes are one of my favourite things! They look so intricate, and yet they're really quite simple. A few rolls, curls, and pinches, and voilà . . . beautiful paper snowflakes! The snowflakes pictured here are for my friend, Charlotte, who ordered them as a Christmas gift. Custom orders are welcome, so feel free to ask! And I do teach classes at Bizzy B's Stamp & Scrap, so feel free to check out our calendar. (Snowflake classes are done for this year, but other quilling classes will be posted soon.)

Christmas Craziness!

Well, I haven't been as crafty lately as I'd like, but my Christmas shopping is pretty well done and I've been busy filling custom Christmas card orders. It is, after all, that time of year! I participated in my first craft sale last weekend with my friend Helayne. It didn't go quite as well as hoped, but it was okay. We definitely have some ideas on how to improve for the next sale!

A bit of sad news . . . The gingerbread house didn't even get an honourable mention! I'm still glad we made it, though, as it was a great way to stretch and expand my quilling craftiness. Hmm . . . I should go turn on the tealight and turn the overhead light off so I can enjoy it while I have "custody." lol

It's a simple card (below), but a popular one, so I thought I'd share it with you. And one of my favourite Christmas cards! The double slider card below features a QuicKutz die-cut snowflake, a silver mini brad, turquoise Stickles, Autumn Leaves stamping (Flourishes V:I) in the background (and more Stickles!), Tim Holtz distress ink (broken china), a Hero Arts sentiment, and white ribbon, all on Bazzill cardstock (simon and coconut swirl). It takes some practice to make the card, but it 's such fun to make, give, or receive. And, on that note, I must go and make some!

Lollipop Lane

Okay, so you'll all think I'm crazy, but I spent the entire weekend decorating a chipboard house with my friend Lara Brooks. It all started a few weeks ago when she asked me something like, "Do you think you could quill gum drops?" I thought carefully for a few seconds and assured her it could be done. Well, the more we thought about it, the more we discovered we could make . . . gum drops, mini sugar cookies, lollipops, lamp posts, an evergreen bush, a wreath, peppermints, poinsettias to fill the window boxes, and even some curls of smoke for authenticity. I think we put in about 70 hours from beginning to end, and we made the deadline for entering the Maya Road Home for the Holidays contest, which is what inspired Lara in the first place. So much fun and such a great team! Here's hoping we win!! :)
