Christmas Quills

Here's a pic from the class I taught at BB's on Monday night. The photo doesn't really do it justice, but you'll get the idea. It's the same idea as the "aquarium" I did earlier this year, but I put a gingerbread house inside instead of fishies. If I'd had a little more time, I would have put even more quilled embellishments on it, but the class went a little over even with what you see here. It's not quite as snazzy as last year's gingerbread house, but it's cute and fun nonetheless! Enjoy!

Christmas Is Coming!

Christmas is coming and I'm so excited! I did some shopping a few months ago, but I still have some to do and I hope to get some done tomorrow. I can't believe it's only five weeks away. I've been waiting all year!! :)

Last night was my first Super Crazy for Christmas Cards class at BB's. Six people signed up for it and everyone had a good time! We got through all 10 cards in 3.5 hours, although a couple of people took some pieces home to assemble there, and enjoyed some cookies and friendly conversation throughout the evening. There's one more chance to take the class - Sunday, December 6, from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. Snacks and drinks provided!

My next class is the second offering of Glistening Greetings. It's on Thursday, November 26, from 7:oo to 9:00 p.m. Here's a picture to pique your interest! There's still room for a couple more people, so call today!

Today I was at Etobicoke School of the Arts' Christmas sale. Here's a shot of of me and my table! (The tree decorated with quilled snowflakes is mine, but the wreaths in the background aren't.)

Copics and Christmas!

What could be more fun than Copics and Christmas? Well, adding a super-cute Penny Black stamp helps. I picked up this cute little guy last night, and this is the final card in my upcoming SUPER Crazy for Christmas Cards class at Bizzy B's. We're making 10 cards in 3.5 hours, which allows a little break for a snack halfway through. Most of the samples are at the store already, and this one will be there soon, too.

I know, it's not even Hallowe'en yet, but I love Christmas at any time of the year, And it's never too soon to get started. It's amazing how quickly time slips away

Oh, and I've got some quilling classes coming up, too, so watch for those samples. They'll be ready soon!

Crazy for Cards (Coloured with Copics)!

Ah, the delinquent blogger has returned! I have a good excuse, though: July flew by so fast, and then I spent two fantastic weeks in Ireland, Belgium, and France!! A whirlwind tour, for sure, but a great time nonetheless. I actually had these samples done before I left, but I ran out of time to get them photographed and posted here. These samples are for next Monday's Crazy for Cards (Coloured with Copics) class at Bizzy B's Stamp & Scrap. You'll learn a little about colouring with Copics and get a chance to try them out, and go home with four fantastic cards!

Quilling for Katie

Tonight is Katie's bridal shower/bachelorette party and I should be getting ready for it, but I had to take a few minutes to post a picture of the quilled embellishments on her envelope. I think it looks FANTASTIC! (Even the letters are quilled.) Hope you like it, too! (And here's hoping Katie doesn't happen to look at this before tonight. It's a safe bet, but my fingers are crossed!!)

Cute Cards!

So, I have no idea where May went and I can't believe that I haven't posted a single thing yet this month. I've been busy, though, and here's a pic of some cards I made using an old set of Stampin' Up stamps called Very Punny. It's discontinued, I think, but the stamps are so cute that I couldn't resist using them. And it's a great way to use your scraps of patterned paper!

Now I'm working on some new classes to teach at Bizzy B's this summer, so watch the calendar for descriptions and dates!

April 27, 2009

Well, I can't believe it's been almost a month since my last post. April has been such a busy month that I haven't had time to do much. And, actually, I kind of hated to bump my quilled Easter eggs from the front of my blog!

ScrapFest (April 17 & 18)
I had the pleasure of attending ScrapFest for the first time this year, demonstrating quilling techniques for my favourite LSS, Bizzy B's Stamp & Scrap! I forgot to take a picture of my most recent project, a black wooden picture frame that I decorated with pink and ivory roses and some green leaves, but I plan to take a picture soon and post it. It's a great example of what you can do with paper and glue, especially alongside a quilled Easter egg, my miniature wedding cake, my aquarium shadow box, and other assorted quilled designs.

Creativ Festival (April 24-26)
After a great weekend at ScrapFest, I had another great weekend at the Creativ Festival, this time helping out my friend Lara Brooks in the Canadian Scrapbooker booth. We had a great time chatting about the magazine and playing with MyStamp Box stamps. Here's a quick sample I made tonight using the Funky Flowers set. You can order them online or stop by Bizzy B's and pick some up.

March 30, 2009

Quilled Easter Eggs

As promised, here are the most fabulous Easter eggs ever! Well, in my humble opinion. :) I had some blown out egg shells kicking around from some other crafts I used to do, and decided that they should get the royal treatment this year. So, I settled down onto Dave's couch yesterday, surrounded by quilling paper, and came up with these three eggs. We likely won't have time to get through three eggs plus some cards, but these beauties are part of my Quilled Easter Designs class scheduled for April 7th at Bizzy B's. Hope to see you there!

March 25, 2009

Quilled Mother's Day Card

So, I should be off in Dreamland by now, but I'm still puttering around, trying to put together everything I'll need for my Interactive Cards class at Bizzy B's. I figured that I might as well take a few minutes to post a new picture, and I've decided that tonight it will be a card I've made for Mother's Day. It's still a little way off, but it never hurts to be prepared.

This is a fairly simple card . . . I cut a rectangle out of the centre of the card front, and zig-zagged quilled spirals across it. You could add more butterflies or more flowers, but I decided that less is more for me this time. You could also line the inside of the card with white paper to hide any stamping or writing inside. The sample is at BB's and it's part of my Quilled Cards for Mother's Day class (scheduled for April 28).

Keep an eye out for some fantastic Easter designs. I plan to post pics next week . . . Easter eggs like you've never seen before!!

March 17, 2009

Quilled Fishies!

Here's my latest quilling endeavour -- a shadow box that looks like a little aquarium filled with quilled fishies! It's colourful and cute, and I just love it! Join me at Bizzy B's on March 31st to learn how to make the shadow box and fishies, plus learn some tips and tricks for quilling anything.

Call the store now to sign up!

March 4, 2009

Interactive I -- New Designs!!

Hi! I've been working away on new samples for my March classes at BB's. Here are the samples for my Interactive I class, which is scheduled for Thursday, March 26. The cards we'll make are a bookmark card, a waterfall card, and a side slider card -- a great way to impress your family and friends with a greeting card! Send me a quick email if you have any questions or, better yet, call the store to sign up right away!

Hope to see you there!

February 8, 2009

Interactive Cards

I've been busy of late, but I've set my quilling aside for a bit to create samples for my upcoming interactive card class at Bizzy B's. If you can't make it on Tuesday, February 11, check out the March calendar when it's ready and come down to the store in March to learn how to make these fun interactive cards!

Quilled Banana Split

Here it is -- the quilled banana split I made last weekend! It's probably only about the height of a loonie standing on its edge, but it looks pretty delicious to me!

January 25, 2009

PaperScapes/Quilled Wedding Cake #2

Hi everyone! So, you're probably wondering about the name change, right? Well, quite simply, I wanted something a little more clever than Paper Arts by Cheryl. I used that name when I created my blog around 4:00 one sleepless morning, and have been trying to think of something better ever since. I thought of several other clever/creative names, but it seems that someone else got there first every time. So, PaperScapes it is!

On the weekend I made a fancier quilled wedding cake -- complete with miniature pink roses! I've got another great pic to post (a banana split, suggested by Lara), but it'll have to wait a day or two!

January 18, 2009

Quilled Sweets

Inspired by my quilled wedding cake and eager to quill more delicious treats, I whipped up a three-scoop ice cream sundae (with a cherry on top) and a slice of cherry pie (à la mode, of course)! They were so much fun to make and they're pretty cute, if I do say so myself! If there's time, we might make one of them in my quilled miniatures class at Bizzy B's on January 27th. The pics are cute, but they really don't do the miniatures justice--pop into the store to see the real live samples!

January 15, 2009

Quilled Heart Card

Here's a sneak peek at one of the projects in my upcoming Quilled Valentines class at Bizzy B's. It's a really simple window card with a quilled heart on the inside (visible through the window). The photo is a little dark (it's actually white!), but you get the idea. Drop into the store to see the real one and other samples as they become available. The class description is below!

Quilled Valentines (February 4, 7:00-9:00 p.m.)
Treat your valentine to a quilled keepsake: a greeting card, a keepsake box, and a simple bouquet! Join Cheryl and learn how to twirl strips of paper into heart, flower, and scroll embellishments for a card and a keepsake box, as well as a miniature bouquet! Please bring a basic quilling toolkit if you have one. Class: $25.00 Materials: $5.00 (taxes extra)

January 7, 2009

Quilled Wedding Cake

So I tried quilling something new tonight -- a wedding cake! I've been thinking about it for a while and decided it's what I want to teach in my upcoming quilled miniatures class. My close-up photography skills need some improvement, but I'm really happy with the cake. Looks pretty tasty to me!

Quilled Miniature Class (January 27, 7:00-9:00 p.m.)
If you’ve got your licence to quill, expand your skills and quill some miniatures! Designs may include a pot of daffodils, a teapot and cup/saucer, a piglet, or even a scrumptious-looking cake! Please bring a basic quilling toolkit if you have one. Class: $25.00 Materials: $5.00 (taxes extra)
