The Truant Blogger

The truant blogger has returned! Things have been pretty busy lately, and blogging fell by the wayside. A bit of news: I've registered for the Creators' Marketplace Show & Sale again this year. I usually just sell cards at these sales, but I've decided to try selling a few new items this time. They're secret for now, but I'll post some pics once I get more organized. Check out the link to the right for more details about the sale.

In case you haven't been to the Bizzy B's website lately, below are the two classes I have left to teach in February. In March, I'll be offering a couple of new classes, so be sure to check the class calendar and my blog for updates!

Sweet Treats (Quilling) -- Wednesday, February 17
Join Cheryl to make candies, ice cream cones, lollipops, and more—all made out of only paper and glue. It’s a calorie-free way to enjoy some sweet treats! Plus they’re super cute and make great embellishments for your tags, cards, or scrapbook pages! Please bring a basic quilling toolkit if you have one.
- Class: $25.00 Materials: $5.00 (taxes extra)

Crazy for Cards! -- Thursday, February 25, 7:00–9:00
Are you crazy for cards? Join Cheryl to make six stunning cards in only two hours. We’ll make cards for several occasions using various tools, techniques, and products! Crafters with all levels of skill are welcome. Adhesive is required. Please bring a basic toolkit if you have one.

Here's a pic of one of the cards we'll make in February's Crazy for Cards class. Simple, but pretty. Hope to see you there!

Be Mine!

As part of January's Crazy for Cards class, we'll be making two valentines. I used Bazzill cardstock, a set of nested hearts cut on my Silhouette, some new Hero Arts flowers stamps, a Hero Arts "love" stamp, and pink ink by Hero Arts. All the samples for this class will soon be at the store, so stop by for a peek! In the meantime, here's a pic to pique your interest.

January 6, 2010

Happy new year! I took the month of December off from blogging and paper arts in general, and it's great to get back into it early in 2010. Tomorrow night I'm off to Bizzy B's for a Hero Arts Preview Party. The 2010 catalogue is out, and there are some many great stamps in it! I had a chance to play with a few when I made the samples for the make-and-take I'm doing tomorrow night, and I can't wait to use more of them in the samples for January's Crazy for Cards class. Check out the class calendar and sign up right away!

And now, for the project at hand, I made this great little Valentine's Day gift -- an acetate box full of Hershey's Hugs, complete with a tag to write on. It's not on the calendar yet, but I'll be offering this class in February, in time for you to give it to your Valentine!

Christmas Quills

Here's a pic from the class I taught at BB's on Monday night. The photo doesn't really do it justice, but you'll get the idea. It's the same idea as the "aquarium" I did earlier this year, but I put a gingerbread house inside instead of fishies. If I'd had a little more time, I would have put even more quilled embellishments on it, but the class went a little over even with what you see here. It's not quite as snazzy as last year's gingerbread house, but it's cute and fun nonetheless! Enjoy!

Christmas Is Coming!

Christmas is coming and I'm so excited! I did some shopping a few months ago, but I still have some to do and I hope to get some done tomorrow. I can't believe it's only five weeks away. I've been waiting all year!! :)

Last night was my first Super Crazy for Christmas Cards class at BB's. Six people signed up for it and everyone had a good time! We got through all 10 cards in 3.5 hours, although a couple of people took some pieces home to assemble there, and enjoyed some cookies and friendly conversation throughout the evening. There's one more chance to take the class - Sunday, December 6, from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. Snacks and drinks provided!

My next class is the second offering of Glistening Greetings. It's on Thursday, November 26, from 7:oo to 9:00 p.m. Here's a picture to pique your interest! There's still room for a couple more people, so call today!

Today I was at Etobicoke School of the Arts' Christmas sale. Here's a shot of of me and my table! (The tree decorated with quilled snowflakes is mine, but the wreaths in the background aren't.)

Copics and Christmas!

What could be more fun than Copics and Christmas? Well, adding a super-cute Penny Black stamp helps. I picked up this cute little guy last night, and this is the final card in my upcoming SUPER Crazy for Christmas Cards class at Bizzy B's. We're making 10 cards in 3.5 hours, which allows a little break for a snack halfway through. Most of the samples are at the store already, and this one will be there soon, too.

I know, it's not even Hallowe'en yet, but I love Christmas at any time of the year, And it's never too soon to get started. It's amazing how quickly time slips away

Oh, and I've got some quilling classes coming up, too, so watch for those samples. They'll be ready soon!

Irresistible Gifts

So, here are my irresistible gifts for this fall's classes: a carton for candy, a tower for treats, a box for bonbons. It's the perfect way to package a little gift for someone special. My favourite is the tower for treats, as it opens up to three little "shelves" that will hold your goodies. They'll be on display at Bizzy B's soon, so pop in to get a peek!

I'm offering this class three times, so there's no excuse for missing it! Hope to see you there!

Tuesday, October 27, 7:00–9:00 (evening)
Monday, November 9, 10:30–12:30 (morning)
Thursday, December 3, 7:00–9:00 (evening)

Class: $25.00 Materials: $6.00 (taxes extra)

Please bring a basic toolkit including dry adhesive (tape runner) if you have one.
